If you run the code binman::list_versions("chromedriver") as specified in the help documentation, then you can identify the versions of compatible with the function. In my case, I was able to use the following code to establish a connection.
I ran into the same kind of error using RSelenium::rsDriver()'s default chromever = "latest" setting which resulted in the failed attempt to combine chromedriver 75.0.3770.8 with latest google-chrome-stable 74.0.3729.157:
The above code is only tested under Linux and makes use of some tidyverse packages (install them beforehand or rewrite it in base R). For other operating systems you might have to adapt it a bit, particularly replace command = "google-chrome-stable" with the system-specific command to launch Google Chrome:
Basically, the code just ensures the latest ChromeDriver version matching the major-minor-patch version number of the system's stable Google Chrome browser is passed as chromever argument. This procedure should adhere to the official ChromeDriver versioning scheme. Quote:
I downloaded a zip file from says "If you are using Chrome version 79, please download ChromeDriver 79.0.3945.36"and I was using Chrome version 79. (I checked chrome://settings/help) Apparently, the error for me was "This version of ChromeDriver only supports Chrome version 78"
from there you should land on the About Chrome Page. Here you will need to verify that you are on the latest and greatest version (problem i was running into stemmed from a mismatch in the cli vs the current chrome version)
I got the same error when I am using robot framework (Selenium based framework) in a Docker instance. The reason was docker was using cached google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb for Chrome but it has installed latest chrome driver which was a later version.
I had the same problem and solved it by simply downloading a chromedriver file for a previous version of chrome. I have found that version 79 of Chrome is compatible with the current version of Selenium.
Yes, Brave is completely free to use. Simply download the Brave browser for desktop, for Android, or for iOS to get started. You can also use Brave Search free from any browser at search.brave.com, or set it as your default search engine.
In order to be able to install it, we need some standalone installer that is available in dl.google.com. The problem is that directories are forbidden and the exact URL of the file should be provided. To construct the full URL to the download file, we need to find the full version from here _chrome/stable/main/base/google-chrome-stable?id=202706&page=1 .If take Version: 85.0.4183.102-1, our standalone installer URL will be -> -chrome-stable/google-chrome-stable_85.0.4183.102-1_amd64.deb
Specific chrome browser versions are not possible using the official dl.google.com repository. Google removed old versions from the repository which leads to just have one available version (the stable), it can be also a APT issue.
This is sad because developers use specific browser drivers compatible with required chrome version. In my case the CI always fails once in a weak because google removes specific versions from the repository... really really sad T.T
Only reason why I have not put a Ticket in, as it seems to be across the board correct for the Cloud? I mean if you fix mine with a tweak, what about the others that suffer this same problem, I would rather wait for the "Official" fix that way we don't have to tweak my browser etc. I mean I can build a vm box, and load chrome 56 and disable updates, like mention above. Unless you think looking at my browser will help the ultimate root cause fix for the issue for all if I log a ticket? I'm not mad about this, if my comments are coming off to strong. I know it's hard to read emotions sometime on forums.
then i can at least browse half of the processes, the top always gets cut off, and sometimes it just jumps back all the way down, like your picture looks. i think i will submit a case , as i can not go back versions in chrome. thank you.
If you have set your Mac to allow apps only from the App Store and you try to install an app from elsewhere, your Mac will say that the app can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store.*

U2F is Chrome's original security key API. It allows sites to register public key credentials on USB security keys and challenge them for building phishing-resistant two-factor authentication systems. U2F never became an open web standard and was subsumed by the Web Authentication API (launched in Chrome 67). Chrome never directly supported the FIDO U2F JavaScript API, but rather shipped a component extension called cryptotoken, which exposes an equivalent chrome.runtime.sendMessage() method. U2F and Cryptotoken are firmly in maintenance mode and have encouraged sites to migrate to the Web Authentication API for the last two years.
